Probably about time I checked out Nick Morley’s work properly, I’ve actually seen a lot of his pieces before when looking at linocut work but without realising it was all him. I love how he’s captured different types of texture through using different sizes and shape of cutter. The feathers in the Dodo image are so cleanly done, normally I love the messy texture you get from linocut and the small marks that are a little surprise when you print the work, but I do love the perfect clean feel to all his prints. My favourite however is the diver with the colour blend printed underneath the black, I’ve never tried or even seen this technique in linocut, so it would be nice to find out how he did it. I also want to ask him the scale he produces his work in, I’ve only even seen lino at an A4 size max, so I’m wondering either where he gets bigger pieces, or how he gets such beautiful detail in such small work. Really looking forward to the workshop now, hopefully I’ll get some tips to improve on.
